Job Summary
Responsible for repair and maintenance of blanking, trimming and form dies (auto and hand-transfer) in metals manufacturing operations. Level 3 Tool & Die Technician requires demonstrated knowledge and skillset of all tasks associated with tooling support and repair and ability to perform all tasks independently. Proven experience and journeyman certification required for this position (including tool maker, die maker, mold maker)
Duties and
Responsibilities
- Ensures safety for self and others in the die repair area
- Works independently for stamping press corrections and troubleshooting
- Performs accurate identification of upstream processes and tooling related issues affecting production
- Refresh, repair and correct tooling issues using full understanding of materials and components
- Uses experience and judgment regarding press timing and out of press corrections or repairs
- Performs adjustments to dies as required to support production operations uptime
- Builds and repairs dies to operations needs
- Reports problems pertaining to dies proactively to leadership
- Works with Machine Operators to resolve any issues with dies and press processing
- Maintains housekeeping and standards of organization to maintain safety and workplace organization
- Serve as an active participant in programs that promote continuous improvement
- Adheres to all company and location policies and safety rules
- Able to work extended hours when required
- All other duties as assigned
Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required for Consideration as a Candidate:
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Proven experience and journeyman certification required for this position (including tool maker, die maker, mold maker)
- 3 years’ experience as a Certified Journeyman Tool / Die Maker / Repair
- Full understanding of form, trim and process corrections to improve production conditions
- Demonstrated competency of all skills necessary for tooling and support tasks
- 3 years’ experience with various machining equipment
- Welding experience preferred but not required
