We are seeking a hands-on, strategic IT Manager to build, manage, and scale our IT infrastructure during a period of rapid growth at Crescent. You will help oversee corporate IT systems, cybersecurity, data governance, laboratory IT support, and vendor management. To be successful in this role, you have experience in biotech, life sciences, or regulated environments and understands the unique IT needs of laboratory operations, data integrity, and compliance frameworks (e.g., GxP, HIPAA, FDA 21 CFR Part 11). Please note, this position is onsite in Waltham, MA.
Responsibilities
Lead hardware lifecycle planning (laptops, networking equipment and any other IT/Facilities related hardware) Ensure high availability, performance, and disaster recovery readiness Plan for office expansion, lab expansion, and hybrid/remote workforce needs Oversee identity and access management (IAM), MFA, endpoint protection, and monitoring Ensure compliance with GxP environments, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, SOC 2 readiness Support risk assessments and security audits Develop incident response and business continuity plans Manage MSPs[KD1] , cloud vendors, and software contracts Negotiate licensing and SaaS agreements Support annual IT budget projections Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve productivity Oversee management of Microsoft Office 365, collaboration tools, HRIS, ERP systems Enhance current onboarding/offboarding processes Provide escalation support for helpdesk issues Implement scalable IT policies and documentation Assess when to hire internal IT support as the company grows
Education & Experience B.S. and 5+ years of progressive IT experience in life sciences, biotech or pharma Strong knowledge of Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP), M365 administration, cybersecurity frameworks and endpoint management, networking fundamentals Experience with compliance frameworks (GxP, HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11, or SOC 2) Proven ability to manage vendors and IT budgets Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical teams
