Role Summary

Filevine is developing new AI-powered tools for the legal industry. As part of this effort, we need people with real legal research training to review and validate data that our machine learning systems extract from published legal materials.

This role is ideal for law students who enjoy close reading of judicial opinions and legal analysis, and who are curious about how AI is being applied to legal practice.

Part-Time Legal Research Intern

Hours

10–20 hours per week (flexible around class schedules)

Eligibility

2L and 3L students

Responsibilities

Read and analyze published judicial opinions across state and federal jurisdictions. Review outputs generated by AI systems and verify their accuracy against the source legal materials. Apply your legal research training to identify errors, ambiguities, or edge cases in automated outputs. Collaborate with legal researchers and ML engineers to improve data quality over time.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled as a 2L or 3L at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law or BYU J. Reuben Clark Law School Completion of at least the 1L curriculum, including legal research and writing. Enjoy reading and analyzing judicial opinions, statutes, and other legal authorities. Strong attention to detail and familiarity with legal writing. Interest in legal technology or AI.
