About the role
As a Data Engineer in SEEK’s Hirer Insights team, you’ll help build secure, high-performing data solutions that power customer-facing analytics. You will design and maintain data pipelines, optimise databases, and enhance our cloud-native platforms. Working alongside engineers, product managers and designers, you’ll turn data into insights that drive meaningful outcomes for hirers and businesses. You will report to the Engineering Manager and collaborate closely with the Principal Engineer to set technical direction. Success in your first year means delivering reliable data assets, improving performance, and contributing to a culture of engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and evolve data pipelines and cloud-native infrastructure
- Develop scalable, reliable, and secure data systems
- Optimise database performance and data processing speed
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver analytics solutions
- Maintain platform health and resolve data quality issues
- Align technical solutions with SEEK’s engineering strategy
- Share operational support duties across the product team
Skills and experience
- Proven experience in data engineering on cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
- Strong SQL, Python/PySpark and data modelling proficiency
- Experience with ETL orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow, AWS Glue, K8)
- Familiarity with big data technologies such as Spark, EMR or Presto
- Skilled in designing & optimising data warehouses/datamarts
- Hands-on experience creating CI/CD pipelines (Buildkite or TeamCity)
