Must-Have Requirements

As a full-time utility contractor, Milhouse Forestry performs tree right of way clearing and maintenance, vegetation management with herbicides, emergency storm work, and logistical support.
We are currently seeking a full time Bucket Operator to join our growing team. This is a non-union position reporting out of our Atlanta headquarters and reporting to the Vegetation Management Foreman.
What you will do
Responsible for quality and quantity of production and for following safe practices following all rules and guidelines associated with the clearing and trimming trees and brush away from utility lines. Sprays brush and stumps, making proper and selective application of herbicides. Removes all designated branches and tree material. Capable of operating a bucket near energized lines. Responsible for cleans up and disposes of all debris. Operates and services equipment, such as gasoline, hydraulic tools, power saws, power winches, bucket, chipper, and sprayers. Uses hand-tools, such as axes, hand-lines, saws, block and tackle, pruners, etc. Obtains written or oral permission from property owners to trim or remove trees or perform other work on property. Arranges with customer or property owner to obtain access, advises of interruption, explains work to be done, etc. Promotes and maintains good customer and public relations through the effective accomplishment of assigned work and the appropriate behavior of team members on the crew. Safeguards team members and the public from hazards in and around work area by notifying and setting up the proper safety barriers, warning signs, flags, markers, etc. to protect employees and public. Cooperates with customers, police, and fire departments when blocking street or driveways. Performs tree and bucket rescue. Supports the training of new team members as appropriate Works in all temperatures and will be exposed to nature i.e., irritating plants and biting or stinging insects. Possesses working knowledge and be able to identify tree and shrub species.

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time. Must be able to wear necessary PPE throughout the workday. Capable of entering and exiting a vehicle numerous times a day. Be able to perform duties on shifts throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day. Be able to interpret and follow appropriate OSHA standards along with company policies. Strong skills in comprehension, written and verbal communications. Availability for emergency callout including holidays and weekends or work call outs. Work demands physical energy, twisting, some lifting ability, and hand-to-eye coordination. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Must have reliable transportation to and from assigned work locations. Must have a valid Driver’s License, pass a background check, drug screen and Motor Vehicle Record review. A current CDL is a plus Spanish speaking is a plus.
Work Conditions
Exposure to weather conditions including extreme cold, heat, sun, and rain. Able to navigate through various types of terrain, which could include unleveled ground. Exposed to nature including dense foliage, insects and seasonal plants. Works near energized parts, high voltage power lines, falling limbs or powered equipment. Can work in traffic depending on work site location, which varies.
