ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world’s greatest crises in partnership with the church. The organization was founded in the aftermath of World War II to respond to the urgent humanitarian needs of war-torn Europe. Since then, for 80 years, across 100 countries, World Relief has partnered with local churches and communities to build a world where families thrive and communities flourish.
Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.
POSITION SUMMARY
This is a limited-term position funded through a grant agreement until (DATE) and contingent upon funding extension.
This is a part-time position for (insert hours) hours per week. {If Hybrid, add schedule, ex.1 day onsite and 4 work from home days}.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct regular outreach to individuals and families within the Afghan community, including follow-up on needs and referrals. Plan, design, and implement events and culturally relevant activities for the Afghan community. Collaborate with the CA team and other departments to ensure the Afghan community is aware of and connected to World Relief programs and services. Assist with applications and navigation of community resources (benefits, housing supports, education programs, etc.). Provide updates to the CA team on changing community resources that support the Afghan community. Promote World Relief and partner events. Participate in and help deliver group-based educational or community-building sessions (virtual or in-person). Support outreach efforts for Education Center workshops and classes to strengthen attendance from the Afghan community. Provide interpretation in Dari or Pashto for individuals accessing World Relief programs and services. Document and record outreach, events, outcomes, and follow-up steps. Attend meetings, trainings, and CA team check-ins. Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Mature and personal Christian faith Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs , Statement of Faith , Christian Identity and National Association of Evangelicals' For the Health of The Nation document Experience working in multicultural settings and across language barriers. Basic computer proficiency, including email, internet navigation, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Fluency in Dari, Pashto, and English required. Valid driver's license Detail-oriented and highly organized. Self-starter, capable of working independently and collaboratively. Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous community outreach or event planning experience preferred. Ability to move throughout the office and visit community locations. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift 10–15 pounds. Good hand-eye coordination and ability to use a computer, keyboard, and office equipment Frequent sitting, reaching, talking, and hearing
