Description

Project Overview

We are conducting a structured data collection project in Japan in cooperation with a global automotive manufacturer. All vehicles are manually operated by the driver at all times.

The purpose of the project is to collect real-world driving data under various road, traffic, lighting, and weather conditions. The collected data supports the development and improvement of future driver assistance technologies.

The campaign follows strict safety, operational, and confidentiality standards.

Position Summary

The Vehicle Data Collection Driver is responsible for

  • Safely operating a project vehicle on public roads in Japan
  • Following predefined routes and shift schedules
  • Operating and monitoring in-vehicle data collection systems
  • Performing documentation and reporting tasks
  • Ensuring proper handling of equipment and storage devices

This is a structured operational role. The driver does not perform testing, evaluation, or engineering activities

Key Responsibilities: Driving & Route Execution Drive according to assigned routes and shift schedules Operate the vehicle manually at all times Cover various road types (urban, highway, rural) Drive during different lighting conditions (day, dawn, dusk, night) Follow all Japanese traffic laws and safety regulations

Key Responsibilities: Equipment Operation Power on and monitor measurement systems Perform regular sensor cleaning (every 1–2 hours as instructed) Monitor system status during driving Handle SSD/HDD storage devices according to procedure

Key Responsibilities: Manual Tagging & Documentation Tag predefined scenarios during driving (according to training) Complete daily logbook / “flight check” documentation Report incidents, deviations, or technical issues immediately

Key Responsibilities: Compliance & Reporting Follow instructions from the project coordinator Maintain clear communication in English Adhere to confidentiality and data handling rules

Scope of Responsibility. You ARE responsible for

Safe driving Correct execution of assigned routes Proper equipment handling Accurate documentation Following project procedures

Scope of Responsibility. You are NOT responsible for

Route planning System development Algorithm testing or validation Data analysis Direct communication with the end client The role is clearly defined to ensure operational clarity and stability.

Work Setup

Fully on-site position Hub-based operation across multiple regions in Japan Daily routes start and end at assigned hub location Business travel within Japan is required Project Timeline (Japan Campaign)~3 weeks training and test runs ~12 weeks data collection Total duration: January – early June 2026 (approximate) Schedules are planned in advance and communicated clearly.

Working Hours

5 days per week Approximately 40 hours per week Driving time: approx. 6.5–7 hours daily

Shift types may include

Early morning Daytime Afternoon Night (approximately 30% of project driving) Night driving is scheduled in advance.

Vehicle & Safety

Vehicle provided by project partner Fully registered and approved for public road use in Japan Vehicle insurance (third-party and operational coverage) provided at project level Safety is prioritized over data collection. Routes may be adjusted in case of unsafe weather or road conditions.

Candidate Profile

Valid driver’s license Safe and responsible driving record Comfortable driving long hours with high concentration Able to follow structured procedures Reliable and punctual Comfortable communicating in English (basic professional level) Prior ADAS or technical experience is not required . Full training is provided before data collection begins.

Contract Type

Independent Contractor (IC) agreement Not an employment contract Contractor is responsible for own taxes and personal insurance 30-day notice period applies This is a project-based assignment with defined duration.

Compensation

Assignment hourly rate + Per diem + Approved project expenses reimbursed

Payment

Monthly After the 20th of the following month Bank transfer (USD / EUR / JPY available) Compensation is based on actual hours and days worked.
