Senior Scientist, Computational Biology
Description
Vesalius Therapeutics is seeking a computational biologist with 5+ years of experience in high-dimensional data analysis to join our team. You will report to the Head of Data Science and develop and apply state-of-the-art statistical methods to deliver actionable insights from our population scale iPSC-based high-throughput phenotyping platform. You will bring a solid foundation in applied statistics; high-performance, scalable, and reproducible scientific code; and molecular, cell, or tissue biology. You will serve also as a subject matter expert on statistical analysis and software development, mentoring junior data scientists and advising stem cell scientists and biologists. You will work both independently and in matrixed teams with stem cell scientists, biologists, statistical geneticists, and machine learning scientists. What You’ll Do
Deliver biological insights into cellular networks, patient biomarkers, and iPSC-based physiological models and champion decisions and next steps Write and deploy high-performance code/pipelines for large-scale computation Identify relevant external data sets and new opportunities/needs for internal data generation Integrate closely with stem cell and biology teams on experimental design, hypothesis generation, and data analysis Provide technical expertise and mentorship on statistics and computation to junior data scientists and stem cell and biology teams Communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences clearly both orally and in writing
What You’ll Bring
PhD. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or Mathematics 5+ years of industry experience analyzing high-dimensional datasets Knowledge of quantitative genetics in human or model organisms a plus Demonstrated expertise in computation and biology supported by publications or presentations Demonstrated proficiency in a relevant programming language (Python, R, etc.) supported by a public Github repository Experience developing novel models, algorithms, or software implementations a plus Strong communication skills in writing and speaking At Flagship, we accept impossible missions to enable bigger leaps. The salary range for this role is $146,000 - $209,000. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
