With millions of users across the globe, we’ve become the most trusted way to find a relationship, for all.

About the Role

Trust & Safety is foundational to Hinge’s mission of helping people find meaningful connections. We are looking for a Senior Director of Engineering to lead the organization responsible for protecting our community and enabling safe, authentic experiences. You will oversee engineers (including managers) across four product teams, partnering closely with Product, AI/ML, and Data to set strategy and ensure organizational health. A key component of this role is outward-facing leadership: building partnerships across Match Group and the broader industry to anticipate trends and invest in future-proof capabilities.

Execution Excellence

Drive predictable delivery, balancing urgent risk response with long-term platform investments. Establish scalable operating rhythms for planning, technical reviews, and incident learnings.

Technical Leadership

Provide oversight for T&S platforms (detection, enforcement, appeals, identity) and ensure strong system design for privacy-conscious workflows. Drive excellence in observability, data quality, and safety-critical development standards.

Partnerships

Build relationships with Match Group leaders to share patterns and align on capabilities. Translate industry trends (e.g., AI threats, regulatory changes) into actionable strategy and rigorous build-vs-buy decisions. AI Change Management : In close partnership with Product and AI leaders, modernize enforcement and user experiences with AI-enabled workflows that are measurable, accountable, and trusted by users.

Intuition for Trust & Safety domains such as abuse prevention, fraud, moderation workflows, identity, or user reporting.

Operational Agility

Comfort operating in high-urgency environments, managing incident response without sacrificing long-term quality.

Strategic Thinking

Relentless focus on driving user value whilst navigating regulatory requirements.

Communication

Exceptional ability to influence across executive leadership, Legal/Policy partners, and external stakeholders. Nice to Have Experience partnering with AI/ML teams on detection, classification, or GenAI-related risk mitigation. Background in regulated or safety-sensitive domains (marketplaces, fintech, social platforms). Familiarity with T&S operations workflows, case management, and policy-to-product translation.
