Overview Akumen is seeking a Technical Team Lead to provide hands-on technical leadership for application development and Agile delivery on a federal program. This role combines software engineering expertise with team leadership responsibilities, including solution design, development oversight, quality assurance, sprint execution, and coordination with program stakeholders. The Technical Team Lead also supports cloud-based and data-centric solutions using AWS and Databricks.
Key Responsibilities
Lead application design, development, integration, and deployment activities across the team. Serve as the primary technical lead for solutioning, task breakdown, and execution oversight. Participate directly in coding, troubleshooting, code review, and architecture alignment. Manage Agile/Scrum delivery activities including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and progress tracking. Mentor team members and enforce standards for quality, security, and delivery performance. Minimum Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field. Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in software development, technical leadership, or solution delivery. Strong hands-on experience with application development, cloud platforms, and modern delivery practices. Demonstrated experience leading Agile teams and managing Scrum deliverables. Relevant certification in one or more of the following areas: Databricks, AWS, Scrum/Agile, or PMI-ACP.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in a related field. Strong experience with Databricks and AWS data engineering or cloud architecture. Experience leading development efforts in federal or mission-driven environments. Experience with secure coding, DevSecOps alignment, and performance optimization. Experience translating complex requirements into executable technical work packages. Clearance Requirement Must possess an active Secret security clearance or higher , or have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance or higher in accordance with contract requirements.
