Base salaries are determined during our interview process, by assessing a candidate’s experience, skills against internal peers and against the scope and responsibilities of the position. Position Summary The Maintenance Planner / Scheduler plays a critical role in achieving this mission by planning and scheduling all maintenance activities, including equipment repairs, minor capital projects, preventative maintenance (PM), and predictive maintenance (PdM) programs. With a strong focus on safety, this role involves planning work that spans multiple skilled trades. As such, a solid understanding of both mechanical and electrical systems is essential. The Maintenance Planner & Scheduler is also responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the site’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and is accountable for enhancing customer service levels across the facility, which will be a key performance measure. Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities Ensure full compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA), including Sections 25, 26, 27, and 28, in alignment with Hiram Walker & Son’s Ltd. policies related to management, supervision, and worker safety. Maintain, administer, and continuously improve the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Develop and release a weekly maintenance schedule by the end of the prior week. Scope and plan work orders, including required materials, tools, labor, and equipment. Establish, schedule, and continuously enhance PM and PdM programs. Conduct customer meetings according to agreed‑upon schedules with each operating area. Plan and coordinate annual shutdown activities. Manage contractor notifications and participate in contracting‑out meetings. Apply industry best practices to improve maintenance planning, scheduling efficiency, and customer service levels. Ensure maintenance requisitions comply with the Approvals Manual and the MRO Purchasing Policy. Maintain regular internal communication with all divisions and departments across HWSL. Maintain regular external communication with suppliers, vendors, and inspectors. Demonstrate general technical knowledge of an industrial plant environment, including mechanical and electrical systems. Support root cause analysis and reliability improvement initiatives to reduce repeat failures and improve asset performance. Ensure all planned work includes verified materials availablity and supports kitting where applicable. Maintain and prioritize a structured maintenance backlog using risk-based criteria in collaboration with Operations and Maintenance leadership. Provide leadership through influence to ensure adherence to planned work and scheduled activites. Required 5 years in a related field.
Preferred
5 years of experience in a maintenance or manufacturing environment. Predicative maintenance (PdM) experience MMP (Maintenance Management Professional) designation Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience working with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Strong working knowledge of MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operations) stockroom operations Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Strong big picture thinking with the ability to execute plans and drive results Demonstrated customer focus, teamwork, and collaboration skills Proven ability to influence, partner with, and collaborate effectively with skilled trades personnel Financial Responsibility Greatly influences goals but does not have final authority. Manages and deploys resources to meet the goals. Participates in goal setting and accountable for own, limited budget for asset administration and goals. Operates in predetermined limits.
