As a Legal Counsel (d/f/m) your responsibilities will include
Contract Review & Drafting
Review, draft, and edit standard commercial agreements (e.g., NDAs, MSAs, DPAs) under German and foreign law, escalating complex issues as needed.
Legal Research & Analysis
Conduct legal research on German and European law topics, including commercial, privacy, employment, and corporate law.
Policy & Compliance Support
Assist in drafting, updating, and rolling out internal policies and compliance documentation, including conducting risk assessments.
Cross-Border Collaboration
Work closely with colleagues in the US, Europe and other regions.
External Coordination
Liaise with external counsel, service providers, or vendors as required for specific matters or projects.
Knowledge Management
Help maintain legal knowledge bases and update internal guidance materials and playbooks to reflect current best practices.
Legal Operations
Support legal department operations such as approval workflows, digital filing systems, signature processes, and internal reporting
Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to streamline legal processes, increase automation, and support the scalability of the legal function.
What you will need to succeed in this role
Educational Background
First and Second State Examinations in Law in Germany, each with a grade of at least ‘satisfactory’ ( befriedigend ), or an equivalent completed legal degree, graduated in the top 10 % of your class.
Commercial Law Experience
2-5 years of experience a lawfirm or legal department with focus on commercial, privacy, and corporate law.
Stakeholder Management
Experience working with diverse internal and external stakeholders—ideally in a B2B environment where legal, sales, and customer needs intersect.
Attention to Detail
A meticulous approach to reviewing contracts, documentation, and legal processes to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Strong Communication Skills
The ability to communicate clearly and professionally across teams and with external partners—both in writing and verbally.
Organizational Talent
Strong ability to manage multiple requests, track documents, and maintain well-structured filing and contract systems.
Proactive & Independent Work Ethic
Comfortable handling standard legal tasks independently and knowing when to escalate more complex issues.
Collaboration Skills
Willingness and ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams across different geographies and time zones.
